Introduction for the self-evaluation skills matrixes

Participating in Erasmus+ mobilities is a life-changing experience that will help you develop your formal and non-formal skills in several ways. It involves traveling to different countries and interacting with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and experiencing differences in work methodologies. This experience encourages and supports cultural adaptability, and helps you learn how to navigate in unfamiliar environments, communicate effectively across cultures, and appreciate cultural diversity.

Erasmus+ mobilities support your vocational development by exposing you to different tasks and ways of working that you would not be able to experience at home. Regardless of whether you do an internship at home or through an Erasmus+ mobility you need to recognise and evaluate the differences between the more theoretical concepts that you have learnt at school and the practicalities of working life.

During a mobility you are very likely to face some challenges, such as language barriers, logistical issues, and cultural differences. Tackling these challenges will help you improve your problem-solving skills. Participating in an Erasmus+ mobility is also a good way to find your own independence. You need to take responsibility for your own well-being, manage your finances, and navigate daily life independently. This experience will support self-reliance, resilience, and adaptability.

The skills matrixes (formal and non-formal skills) will help you evaluate how ready you are to take part in the Erasmus+ mobilities and which skills you want to improve and/or develop. The skills matrixes are divided into several parts, you need to fill in all parts to get the results. You can choose if you want to have the results sent to you as an e-mail and if you want to provide your Erasmus+ contact person with access to the results too.

Our recommendation is that you fill in the skills matrixes before you leave on a mobility and after returning home. This will help you and your teachers to evaluate, identify and recognise your skills development.
